I have been filming live shows for many years.
Depending on budgets, and room at a venue, I always film with a minimum of two professional broadcast grade cameras. I also pay huge attention to making sure colour balance between cameras is the same: this is crucial in trying to ensure colours look the same from shot to shot. Audio is also vitally important: where I can, I work with the theatre staff to get a 'feed' from their audio system as well as using my own microphones to capture the live sound - including, of course, the audience.
